Coming Out Was One of the Best Decisions I Ever Made

Happy National Coming Out Day!

I waited almost ten years to publicly come out as gay. Part of the reason why I waited so long was because I came from a very religious family, but a lot of it had to do with an inner conflict I carried for many years: if straight people don’t have to come out, then why should gay people have to?
